Salman passes on screen name Prem to Arbaaz

Bollywood star Salman Khan has found a new way to pass on his luck to younger brother Arbaaz Khan - by passing on his lucky screen name Prem.

The actor suggested that Arbaaz name his character Prem in his upcoming film "Prem The Game", where he plays the lead.

"Earlier, Arbaaz's character was called by a different name. But Salman suggested that he call his character Prem. So, Arbaaz changed his name to 'Prem'," said a source close to the actor.

Salman's character in 1989 hit "Maine Pyar Kiya" was called Prem and the actor never looked back since then. He later went on to do many films with the same character name as he considered the name lucky. Some of these movies were "Hum Saath-Saath Hain", "Biwi No.1" and "Chal Mere Bhai", among others.

Preity Zinta who’s in South Africa with her cricket team is cool as a cucumber most of the time.

But when people whom she barely even knows get familiar with her, she finds it hard to take. Though she’s most charming, sweet and often genteel with fans, Zinta likes to keep a wee bit of distance. She tells us, “I am fine with people posing with me for pictures, but what I don’t like is when some put their hand around my waist or shoulders! Shah Rukh Khan is not going to be a happy person for too long; especially since an anonymous blogger seems to be telling the world what’s happening in the green room.

The blogger is penning down details of team strategy, happenings at the team meeting and gossip in the dressing rooms and other private circles.

The blog’s authenticity hasn’t been proven yet. The writer writes using either code names for the players (Lord Almighty for Saurav Ganguly, Sheikh of the Tweak for Shane Warne).

The management has condemned the poison pen writer and hopes to bring a stop to his posts soon.

Neil: No Mugdha allowed!

Neil Nitin Mukesh has very reluctantly agreed to drop his pants for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail.

To make Neil feel comfortable for the torture scene, Madhur did not allow anyone inside except the cinematographer in addition to himself.

Poor Mugdha and the rest of the cast were couped up in their vanity vans for a good three hours while Neil completed the shoot.

Mugdha spent her ‘break’ catching up on the IPL matches.

Exclusive: Shah Rukh Khan on his Knights

Kolkata Knight Riders have registered their first win in IPL season 2 and team owner Shah Rukh Khan now wants to put all the controversies behind and concentrate on cricket. He spoke to Vimal Kumar after the victory celebrations.

SRK: It's going to be difficult at times. People are not going to understand from outside. All I can tell you is: "You can love us, you can hate us, but you can't ignore us. We will try our best as humbly as possible. We will try and entertain everyone. We are open to be talking about the team the way we wish to. We love you and we are going to try our best. Whichever the part of the country you are in, make sure you are proud of Kolkata Knight Riders."

Q: IPL is shifted to South Africa. Rain is playing spoilsport. Your take on that

SRK: Weather is not something that even I can control or, you can control. It's unfortunate. But apparently, it is not seasonal rain here, either. So things happen like this. When the moment is big, the occasion is really important, small things can spoil it. But the idea was the IPL2 should be held. So forget the rain. Whenever it rains we just sing a good rain song. But beyond that, yes it's unfortunate. I feel sad that some of the matches are getting curtailed because of rain.

Q: You must be feeling happy that your team has started winning.

SRK: I don't think we have started winning. We have twelve more matches to go. I can't be happy so soon. But I am very happy that the team has started playing together. And inshe allah... as we go along the next twelve matches we will play together. As long as we play together, winning or losing is not important. I think if we are able to bring the spirit of the Kolkata Knight Riders into this, that is more important. So I am happy for the kids. I think they were very depressed after losing the first match. I am happy that they are happy now. But a long way to go.

The trick behind Akshay's double role in 8x10 Tasveer

Filmi double roles have always fascinated us. To make them possible, techniques like shooting in several layers, shooting with the help of chroma are common practice. But if we talk about Akshay Kumar's 8x10 Tasveer, there is certainly something unique.

Akshay's double role: The best sequence and the most challenging one too! No chroma shots, but frame by frame rotoscoping (technique of cutting out the images) done by Vfx house Prime Focus. All of Akshay's shots were shot twice in two different layers using a dummy character in front of him. Later, the dummy character was rotoed out from each frame and was replaced by Akshay shot in a separate layer.

"It was a long sequence and was shot on the boat where everything was shaking. As the part of the post production, we had to roto out Akshay in each and every frame; besides, all the shots needed to be stabilized because of the shake. The scene where both the Akshays are fighting was the most challenging one," says Merzin Tavaria, Creative Head, Prime Focus.

It's official: Preity and Ness split!

Priety Zinta has finally put an end to all speculation about the status of her relationship with Ness Wadia, the Bombay Dyeing scion: The two are just working partners and share a cordial relationship as co-owners of the Kings XI Punjab cricket team.

However, just last week Preity had denied reports of a break up with Ness.

At that time it had been widely reported that her four-year-old relationship with Ness was off and that she had moved on to New York-based hotelier Vikram Chatwal. In a subsequent interview, Preity rubbished the reports.

But it seems she could not deny the truth for too long.

Ness’ absence by Preity side at the ongoing IPL in South Africa has been too glaring to go unnoticed, though Ness is there at the tournament. He has also not been with her all the public events she has attended recently.

As the whispers got louder, Preity felt it was important to clear the air especially in order to avoid any negative impact they could have on her team.

Priety is said to have sent out an email to everyone associated with Kings XI Punjab stating that she and Ness currently just have a professional relationship.

Is it a break-up or the two are just taking a break to analyse their relations?

May be the straight talking Preity will clarify this soon too.

Sallu takes on SRK at IPL

The Khan war starts again as Salman agrees to cheer for Priety's team in South Africa.

The Salman v/s Shah Rukh battle resumes. This time however the setting is not Mumbai, but South Africa where the IPL matches are being played. Sources reveal that Preity has approached Sallu to cheer for her team Kings XI Punjab and the actor has agreed.

However, what's interesting is that Preity has asked Salman to be there when her team battles out Shah Rukh's Kolkatta Knightriders. Even though Salman couldn't attend yesterdays match, he has assured Preity that he will make it for the next round.

At the moment Salman is busy campaigning for various political parties. The actor plans to take a break from his hectic schedule and rush to South Africa to cheer for Preity's team. Interestingly Salman is the only actor who is planning to cheer for another actors team this IPL season. Last year Akshay Kumar had cheered for the Delhi Daredevils however he hadn't done it for free. "Akshay was paid a bomb for the cheerleading.

However Salman is doing it for free because Preity has asked him a favour."

Insiders add that Salman has been telling close friends how Shah Rukh is busy minting money at the money while he's rallying around asking people to vote. "Salman campaigning for Preity will be a direct challenge to Shah Rukh. It will be interesting to see him on the same stadium where SRK's team is playing."

Salman has promised Preity that he will help her team but has yet committ the dates he will travel to SA.

Bollywood copies even voting plea!

Nothing's original in Bollywood: even the heart-rending appeal by our stars to vote.

Produced by Karan Johar and director by Tarun Mansukhani, the video asking people to vote, called 'Kuch nahin ho sakta' is lifted from a Hollywood original made before the presidential elections Obama won.

Both videos encourage the viewers not to vote, saying that change never happens. The Hollywood version opens with Leonardo Dicaprio saying "Please, just don't vote." The desi version has Abhishek Bachchan saying: "Kuchch nahin ho sakta is desh ka."

After that various stars talk about how we often hear that. "Kitni zubanon say suna hai" (Kareena)"; "Kitni zubano mein suna hai (Karan Johar)".

Both videos end up asking people to take charge and vote.

The copycat version has biggies including Ranbir Kapoor, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Imran Khan, Shahid Kapur, Farhan Akthar, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Asin and Priyanka Chopra.

The original also has major stars including Dustin Hoffman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Silverman.

We wonder when Bollywood will have an original idea.
