SRK-Akki bond together

After a long battle over who is the Superstar No 1 of Bollywood, superstars SRK and Akshay Kumar bade goodbye to dushmani and said hello to Dostana at Film city yesterday. SRK was shooting at the film city for an ad and Akshay was filming for his upcoming movie Blue.

It was Baadshah of Bollywood,SRK, who went all the way to Akki’s shooting set to meet him and Akki was surely surprised.

A source from the sets of Blue says, “SRK walked in on the sets of Blue yesterday afternoon to meet Akshay. SRK was shooting nearby on floor no 12 for an ad film when he heard that Akshay was shooting on floor no 1 for Blue. There were some media persons who were present on the sets of Blue.

They were surprised to suddenly see SRK on the sets of Akshay’s film. As soon as he heard about SRK’s visit, Akshay came out of his vanity van to greet him. Their body language was very friendly.

The two stars chatted inside the vanity van for 20 minutes. They have been discussing the possibility of a joint venture. Earlier too they had discussed the possibility of doing a film together at Preity Zinta’s birthday party. Now they have taken their discussion a step ahead. The film will be jointly produced by SRK’s production company Red Chillies and Akshay’s Hari Om Productions.”

“Akshay and SRK know that it will be nothing short of a dream cast if they are seen together in a film made by them.”

We surely agree with this sure, it would be great to see the Badshah and the King together. What say folks?

John:Karan-SRK have great taste in men

John Abraham is the latest guest on Farah Khan’s show Tere Mere Beach Mein along with Yuvraaj Khan. John discusses with Farah how great taste in men both SRK and Karan have, ‘coz they were the judges at Gladrags competition and made John the winner.

John also talks about his hero, Tom Cruise, he says, “I just have one international star as my hero..Tom Cruise.” Farah asks, ”Koi ladki ya heroine ke nahi thi?” John says no and Farah asks back, ”That’s why you did Dostana!”
John laughs, “Tabhi Dostana ki…pehle Tom Cruise, then Abhishek Bachchan..then Shah Rukh Khan.” Farah in full humour says,, “so you were into guys as a kid!” John smiles, “Farah, I was never into guys.”

Then John recollects his shy pimply days, “I used to be very shy. There was a time when my face was full of pimples and I just never used to look up when in the company of girls so much so that they used to feel that I was such a shy, sweet, decent boy. Only I couldn’t tell them that my face is full of pimples and that’s the only reason I’m looking down!”

Well John you have turned into a handsome swan now from a pimply duck.

Sallu’s Wanted declared hit

Rani Mukherjee and Salman Khan both were desperately waiting for Friday. while Dil Bole Hadippa is Rani’s comeback vehicle, Wanted is Salman Khan’s ticket back to hits and stardom.

So the good news is for Salman Khan fans, because WANTED has been declared hit, while Dil Bole Hadippa has not had a good opening.

In Mumbai Wanted had a opening of 45% and DBH had 40%, in Delhi Wanted had an opening of 70% and DBH of 35 %, however both the flicks fared poorly in Kolkatta and South.

Wanted is a remake of Telugu hit movie Pokiri starring Mahesh Babu and Ileana.

Salman:I’d kick Hrithik’s a**!!

Well Salman says he could’ve succeeded in doing this if he would have learnt break dancing and reveals that dancing in Wanted was quite difficult.

Salman says, “Doing one step took 15 days.But I used to dance a lot, I even entered dance competitions in discotheques till I came of age and realised that to look cool I only needed to stand against pillars! I didn’t know then that if I’d learned breakdancing, I’d kick Hrithik’s a** today!”

Shifting his focus on preparing for a role, Salman says, “I don’t think anybody prepares for a role.Maybe Aamir trained his body for one scene in Ghajini and Shah Rukh did that for a song in Om Shanti Om… but I feel if you walk like the character in the film, and you can talk like him, then you’re set. I get that feeling with this role. It’s that kind of film. We need heroes. It’s time for people to stand up against all odds. That’s what this character does.”

“The action is different.I have not had body doubles, and cables have been used in only one or two scenes. It’s not action for the sake of action. The emotion here is at a different plane. This is not a body-body kind of action film. The man’s fight is not from the body, but from his heart. The strength comes from within. He’s like a Parsi, if he believes in something, he has the strength to take on the whole nation!”

Dil Bole Hadippa Review

Dil Bole Hadippa is yet another film from the YRF’s kitty based in Punjab. This too represents the stereotypical culture of Punjab with swaying yellow fields, flashy celebrations, desi lassi and chomping sugarcane.

The film is the story of one such village of Punjab located at the Wagah border that has its own cricket team and plays match with the local Pakistani team for the Aman cup and have been losing in a row from past eight years. The team’s owner (Anupam Kher) turns to his son Rohan (Shahid Kapur) who plays county cricket in England to take over as coach and the captain to strengthen the team. A village girl Veera (Rani Mukherjee) though works with a local theatre group in village, treasures an unusual dream of playing a cricket in the big league with the star cricketers Tendulkar and Dhoni. She gets an entry in the men cricket team by disguising herself as a man. Here comes the twist in the story, Veera Kaur becomes Veer Pratap Singh sporting a turban and a beard. And thus it bears out the purpose of Veera living with a nautanki company called Jigri Yaar Dance Company, adept at costumes and disguises.

Her journey in the cricket arena leads to lot of humor, romance and on and off manifests the spirit of India for the sport. It ensembles all the superhit ingredients of the Yash Raj films like situations evoking patriotism, feel of DDLJ and loud Punjabi dialogues like main ek Punjabi baap ka Punjabi beta hoon. In the climax, when Veera’s speech about allowing girls to dream freely will certainly move the audience. Unarguably, Rani is looking better than what she has in years and Shahid too looked dashing. The only two spoilsports in the sporty film are Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant.

By the way DBH is the Punjabi version of the 2006 high school rom-com ‘She’s The Man’ in which a girl disguises herself as her brother to get in a soccer team.

Movie Review – Wanted - Salman khan - Ayesha Takia

If you are crazy about regular commercial masala films leaving your brains at home, Wanted is the right choice. Wanted is a canvas painted in south Indian colours where you can get a glimpse of Rajnikanth in our macho man Salman Khan. Woah hold down It’s a Prabhu Deva film, Bingo

Wanted is undisputedly a well-written story with an excellent screenplay. But there is a flipside to it. It is a well-written story which lacks good direction and editing.

Wanted opens up with an interesting plot with commissioner Ashraf Khan (Govind Namdeo) leaving no stones unturned to eradicate underworld terrorism from the country. Radhe (Salman Khan) is a hardcore gangster known for brutality and commitments. All he knows is the language of money. His loyalties lies with any gang provided the money is right. His entry in Gani Bhai (Prakash Raj) gang under the wing of Golden (Aseem Merchant), the right hand of Gani and betrayal to his existing gang headed by Data Pawle leads to bloodshed, as disputes crop up unexpectedly. However, story takes a twist with Golden’s death, which compels Gani Bhai to take matters in his hands and fly back to India. How Gani Bhai realizes the trap of commissioner Ashraf Khan, and the truth of Salman Khan, would have been an exciting watch had Prabhu Deva tightened his script.

Cinematographers Nirav Shah and S Sriram are simply excellent. Special effects are over the top; could have been subtle. The music is awful, except ‘Dil Leke’ track, which is the only saving grace.

No refreshing treat for ears, as far as stereotypical dialogues go.

Wanted rides on Salman Khan despite his regular run-of-the-mill, yet nice performance. Ayesha Takia is good and looks gorgeous. Mahesh Manjrekar is perfect for his part as a womanizer. Prakash Raj as Gani Bhai has small, yet pivotal role and lives up to it beautifully. Vinod Khanna and Inder Kumar don’t have much scope, though they are instrumental to the pace of the story. Aseem Merchant is fairly good. Same goes for Govind Namdeo.

On the whole, ‘Salman Khan’ factor will pull the audience to make this film survive. Infact, half the battle is won, courtesy loads of hype. My verdict: One time watch.

Priyanka and katrina together in a film!

We have heard the story of Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif having a fall-out at an award function this year, as PC refused to perform with Kat. But here comes a shocker- the two of them are set to work together in a flick!

“The producers are planning to rope these two beauties for the desi version of English movie, Bride Wars. As of now, nothing has been confirmed about them on the dotted line,” chirps our source.

Bride Wars is a Hollywood blockbuster, starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. The story speaks about two best friends who turn enemies after their marriage is fixed at the same date and at the same venue.

“The producer is yet to decide on the other star cast. Both the female leads need to be very fashionable, and Piggy Chops and Kats do fit in perfectly with the script, as well as, the characters too,” adds the source.

Well this seems to be a real story as these two actors have been at wars. Good choice is all we can say for now to the producer, Shristi Arya.

Big Pictures sells rights to Ghajini in South Korea

Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group owned Big Pictures has sold the rights of Bollywood movie Ghajini in South Korea.

This clearly indicates that they are also targeting international market for profits.

The production house has also sold the rights of its four other films in China. The films are 13B, Luck By Chance,Karzzzz and Rock On!!

Jawahar Sharma, COO of International Film Business at Big Pictures says, “Within just a year of its launch, our international sales team has tapped into major markets for the proliferation of Indian cinema. Indian cinema is gaining ground with the entry of Ghajini into South Korea and our four titles into China”.

Further adding to his statement, he said , “China is a crucial market because of its size, and we are happy that we have found warm welcome in the largest country in the world”.

Kalki Koechin to appear in ‘Shaitaan’

The beautiful and sexy Kalki Koechin who debuted with ‘Dev D’ did not create much sparks with her first flick. However, this has not in any way undermined her confidence. She will be starring in Juhi Babbar’s ex-hubby Bejoy Nambiar’s directorial debut which will be a thriller titled ‘Shaitaan’.

The film, to be produced under Getaway Productions, is slated to go on floors in December. Earlier, Bejoy had planned to make this project in English for Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park Entertainment in Los Angeles. But as the production did not happen, he decided to redo the script in Hindi for Bollywood.

The film revolves around a kidnapping and stars Nikhil Chinappa, Shiv Pandit, Arjun Mathur, Namit Das and newbie Keerti Kulhari besides Kalki. It will be shot entirely in Mumbai.

Kalki has also appeared on the cover of popular men’s magazine ‘The Man’ with her revealing act as a sexy washer woman. The mag has the girl turning an agony aunt giving her ten commandments to guys that can help them to woo girls. She says, “On your girlfriend, expect to be kicked in the balls and expect all her friends to treat you like shit.”

Kalki also talks of her love life and says, “It was very tough at first. You discover each other’s annoying habits. Anurag does this weird thing of scratching his throat and making noises when he wakes up. It used to make me feel sick. Then he had this habit of leaving behind used tea cups, food plates, and newspapers all over the floor. When he shaved, he would leave all his hair all over the sink. It was disgusting. Sometimes I still have to tell him to put the toilet seat up before he pees. He has those dirty men habits. At times he wouldn’t bathe for two days. He has changed most of it now.”

So guys! Watch out for Kalki is back into action once again.

Bipasha Basu has reasons to feel jealous of John’s bikes

Well, before you raise your eyebrows and feel pity for Bipasha Basu, let us divulge that the Bollywood hunk, John Abraham, is not married to any girl but his bikes. John’s love for his bikes is well known to all of us and he has been a brand ambassador for the auto giant, Yamaha Motors in India, for quite a few years now. Recently, when he was in New Delhi to launch Yamaha’s new superbike ‘VMAX’ (priced at Indian Rupees 2,000,000), he said that he had no desires to settle down soon in life as he was already married to his bikes. He added that he would marry Bipasha only after adding four more bikes to his collection.

John said, “I love motorcycles, I am married to them and I have had a honeymoon period with them. I don’t let anyone sit on my bikes or touch them.”

“Bipasha doesn’t like sitting behind me on bikes as I keep complaining about the bike getting scratched or damaged,” he added.

Katrina Kaif is not on ‘Twitter’ or ‘Facebook’

A few days back it came out that Katrina Kaif wrote on Twitter that Salman is quite lazy. Now, it has been revealed that it is not Kaif in real but someone else who has been impersonating her.

Katrina Kaif, who is shooting in Bhopal at present, expresses her annoyance saying, “Something has to be done to stop this sort of vandalism. I am not on Twitter or any other social networking website. I plan to start my own website by the end of the year.”

“I don’t think it’s cool to let people know where I am, or what I’m doing throughout the day. I’m not on any of the social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. I guess my life is not an open Facebook,” she adds with disgust.

Katrina plans to start her website called ‘katrinakaifofficial.com’ to keep in touch with her fans and intends that other websites using her pictures and quotes without proper consent would have to face legal consequences.

About her website, she says, “I don’t want this to be something I start and then leave to others to take care of. Of course, there will be professional employed to oversee my website. But I’ll picking and choosing all the material and pictures that go into it.”

“My website will be comprehensive. It will have my exclusive pictures. In fact I’ll be doing photo sessions done specially by me. It will also have pictures taken by me on my sets and on location. My website will be fun, feisty, bubbly and colorful, to go with my image,” she adds.

A sneak peek into ‘Chance Pe Dance’

‘Chance Pe Dance’ is the forthcoming film from director Ken Ghosh being made under the banner of UTV Motion pictures. The film was earlier titled ‘Star’ and ‘Yahoo’ before getting its final title. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D’ Souza in the lead roles.

The movie is based on story of a young and talented Sameer who is struggling to get a break in the industry and in the due course he meets Tina who is a choreographer.

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel go hand-in-hand

Right from the time Freida Pinto and Dev Patel worked together in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, the duo has been linked together and they have been denying the rumors.

However, the love birds have been spotted together time and again looking very much in love with each other.

Recently, they were photographed together once again as they were leaving a Fashion’s Night Out event at jewellery store ‘Asprey’ in Bond Street. They were beaming together in each other’s company as they were walking hand in hand. Priyanka Chopra comes forward for a social cause

Bollywood stars have always been known for their association with social cause. Now, Priyanka Chopra does her bit by supporting the ”Save the Children” campaign which aims to provide quality education to eight million children living in conflict-affected areas.

The campaign will also work in the area of providing, securing and protecting children’s rights to food, shelter, health care, freedom from violence, abuse and exploitation.

Priyanka has many other associations with social causes and she expressed her hope that the campaign would be able to spread awareness on how education can change the future of young children.

“Save the Children is associated with about 11 states in India. I hope at some point of time to be able to visit at all places where Save the Children works and see for myself how much help I can be of and also in every possible way create awareness about how important education is in our country,” said Priyanka Chopra to the reporters at a press conference to announce her association with Bvlgari Save the Children campaign in Mumbai.

Where many aspiring, and even some established, Bollywood actresses are resorting to skin show to get roles in films but Ayesha Takia is still quite strong in her policy that she will not do any skin show and titillating scenes that enact sexual intimacy on screen.

Music Launch of ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’

Directed by Prem Soni, ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’ is yet another awaited comedy this year. The film stars Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.

The movie also has Govinda in a special appearance and Preity Zinta in an item number.

The music for this emotional and romantic drama has been composed by Sajid -Wajid, who have earlier given hits like ‘mujhse shaadi karogi’, ‘maine pyaar kyun kiya’ and the latest ‘wanted’ with Salman.

Though Salman and Kareena have done quite a few films earlier, but they haven’t managed to create much stirs onscreen as a couple as yet. Hope this Diwali, the cinegoers get to witness a sizzling chemistry between these two very talented and very stylish stars.

Lara Dutta’s bikini look in ‘Blue’

Actress Lara Dutta was last seen in ‘Billu Barber’ in a de-glam avatar. She is now set to add the oomph factor in the forthcoming ‘Blue’ with her bikini avatar. Lara has worked very hard with strict diet and training regime to get the lean look that she flaunts in a bikini in the film.

She has also learnt swimming and scuba diving for the film. It may be mentioned here that earlier Lara used to shy away from the roles which required her to swim. She has a titillating underwater romantic song with Sanjay Dutt in the flick.

‘Blue’ is apparently Bollywood’s first underwater film and perhaps the most expensive one too. Film’s director Anthony D’Souza has used latest techniques to give it an international look.

The music of the film is given by none other than music maestro AR Rahman. Shot in Bahamas, the movie also stars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif and Rahul Dev who will be seen swimming, diving and escaping predatory sharks.

Akshay’s character is called Aarav which is his son’s name in real life. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a fisherman, who also happens to be Akshay’s friend.
