Uday Chopra was last seen in Dhoom 2. He is back, starring in a romantic-comedy which he has also penned and produced. Is it possible for him to be successful this time?
Priyanka Chopra is quite optimistic about the film which is being promoted using her glamourous character and peppy music. After the failure of Rocket Singh, the producers decided to keep the focus on the glamourous, sexy character instead of the nerdy or geeky one.Labels: News, Priyanka Chopra 0 comments

Put simply, Avatar is the most visually fantastic film I’ve ever seen. It will be hailed as the groundbreaking 3D release of its time while setting a new standard by which all blockbusters are measured. Yes, it’s that good.
Jurassic Park was the first movie I remember being excited to an unhealthily obsessive level. My dad, a huge Michael Crichton fan, did his best to tempt my young self into reading the full-out book. So he told me a sort of good parts version, filling my head with tales of dinosaur resurrection from amber dug up deep in the Earth, all while I would do my best to get more and more out of him without actually having to crack open a book.
So when I heard Jurassic Park was becoming a movie, not only did that dash any chance of me reading the story, but I literally could not fathom a world in which I’d be patient enough to wait to see it (not that I had any other option). I mean, dinosaurs, theme parks, and terror? Jurassic Park was biologically engineered for young boys.
All of this is nice background, but my point is simpler. When I saw those dinosaurs on screen, knowing that, in many cases, they’d been modeled purely by computers—computers!—I felt like anything was possible. Yes, it’s a cliche feeling. That’s actually why I’m sharing it. Because ultimately, we all have that movie—be it Star Wars or Terminator or whatever—that movie we actually felt a bit humbled, even challenged, watching because it was was an amuse-bouche of the future, even if a bit cheesy at heart.
Avatar is that movie for the new generation.
I don’t expect you to believe me if you haven’t seen the film yet. I, myself, was a huge skeptic until a few hours ago. Blue people? Papyrus font?? What the fuck happened to dinosaurs and light sabers and killer robots from the future? Did we use all the cool stuff up?
But about 30 minutes in to the film, you realize that the marketing has undersold the movie. In an era when every great moment of a film makes its way to a trailer, Avatar surprised me with an endless amount of unparalleled optical overload. Every single shot is just so full of detail that you literally open your eyes wider to take as much in as you can before each cut.
Gizmodo readers will love the tech, especially as that about 50% of the film’s budget apparently went to rendering badass 3D curved displays and absurdly awesome cockpits. But sequences from Pandora’s woods at night…let’s just say they’re the first luminescent visual effects I’ve seen that made 1982’s Tron look like a 27-year-old movie.
Also, while shots of the Na’vi (the blue dudes) clearly deviate from a 50/50 balance between real footage and CGI depending on the scene, their body animation, even for motion capture, is unparalleled. While their faces and eyes especially can appear a tad cartoony at times, the overall effect is not done justice by YouTube trailers or that shot pasted above. Call the effect hyperreal or even unreal, but it’s certainly doesn’t look “fake.” I don’t know that I’ve ever witnessed complete humanoid models move so realistically, especially given their exposure (in both screen time and skin).
Of course, Avatar’s 3D is the basis of my obnoxious zeal for the aesthetics. I viewed the film in a full-sized IMAX theater. And while I knew that a fair share of missiles would fly off the screen (and ZOMG the mechs look amazing), I couldn’t have expected the sheer tangibility that 3D—what I once supposed a gimmick—added to the experience. I mean, I saw textures in this film that I’ve never seen in a movie before, like wet, rubbery skin on the wildcats of Pandora that made people around me gasp more than once. There’s a more understated moment, too, when Sam Worthington shaves and you realize, wow, stubble is pretty remarkable in 3D. The jagged hairs bring a level of humanity to his character, adding something unexpectedly corporeal to what’s really a 30-foot-tall head in closeup.
So yes, 3D is more than a gimmick. The glasses are still a pain, but 3D is here to stay.
Avatar doesn’t handle this new technology perfectly, however, and I hope that other filmmakers learn from its mistakes. Especially early inthe film during shots in close quarters, the direction allowed many objects to break frame (think of a person walking from one end of the screen to the other). For my untrained eyes, seeing a figure go from 2D to 3D to 2D was not only distracting, it was tiring. And the same can be said for a constantly shifting depth of field—based upon where the camera is focusing, you’ll need to figure out whether to look deep into the screen or right in front of you.
An out of focus shoulder breaking the corner of the frame is pretty much the worst implementation of 3D I could imagine. Luckily, the forest sequences that make up the majority ofthe film seemed to have been planned with a wider depth of field—more of the shot is in focus.
After 2 1/2 hours in the theater, I am exhausted far more than the same amount of time playing an FPS would make me, but Avatar was so remarkable that it was well-worth the work of watching it.
I still can’t imagine popping on a pair of glasses to watch the evening news after a long day of work, and I sympathized for the guy sitting beside me as he started rubbing his eyes about halfway through. As someone with a slight uncorrected astigmatism, my left eye was ready to fall out of its socket by the final climactic sequence.
But as viewers, we’ll adapt to the new tech. And as technicians, Hollywood will learn the rules of 3D as it writes them.
So for now, I’m not quite ready to see every piece of the world’s media in 3D. But Avatar? Yeah, I’ll be seeing it again…and maybe again…just in hopes of absorbing a bit more of the visual splendor.
Avatar Movie: Looks like Avatar is having a mind blowing time with its reviews being accepted very well all over. Directed by James Cameron, this 3D film has already created enough curiosity among the viewers calling it a must watch movie. The movie has real action that pulls the viewers to feel the actual scenes with a personal touch. The final scene in the battle ground runs for a long 20 mts but never bores the spectator. The character building is reportedly fabulous and music is too good.

The nail biting budget of $300 million spent on Avatar proves to be worthy. The special effects have come out too well and movie proves to be a wholesome entertainer. According to Kirk Honeycutt of The Hollywood Reporter “The screen comes alive with its lovely soundtrack pops’. Christ Hewitt of Empire Magazine says that It’s a world, not to give too much away, that Cameron clearly fully intends to return to and further explore. When he does, our bags are already packed.”
The Avatar review has successfully created the market for its forthcoming release worldwide. The actions scenes, the sound effect, and the cinematography everything has come under wide appreciation from the public. Now that should make the release all the more successful.

Faridkot, Punjab Village-girl Ramandeep Kaur in Punjab’s border district of Faridkot did not have anything in common with well-known cricketer Sourav Ganguly till Saturday. Not until Aamir Khan, disguised as a documentary filmmaker from abroad, landed up at her village on the eve of her wedding.
The bride and her family of Churchak village near Jagraon could not in their wildest dreams imagine that the disguised filmmaker was none other than the Bollywood star until he told them so himself.
The actor had last week played a similar prank at Ganguly’s house after he landed up in Kolkata disguised as a fan of the former Indian cricket captain.
Dressed as a hippie-looking foreigner visiting India for documentary filmmaking, Aamir attended the pre-wedding celebrations in Kaur’s village near Jagraon town, 250 km from Chandigarh.
“Aamir Khan came to the wedding functions. Initially, we were told that he was a documentary maker. When his real identity was revealed, there was even greater joy and excitement in the household and the entire village,” Ramandeep’s father Jasvir Singh told IANS Sunday.
Ramandeep’s wedding to groom Gurjit Singh was solemnised Sunday as per Sikh religious rites.
The winter chill of north India did not stop Aamir from being part of the rural wedding ceremonies Saturday night for over two hours despite having reported sick just a day earlier at Jaipur.
The trip, of course, was part of Aamir’s ongoing promotion of his yet to be released film “3 Idiots”.
“Some people approached us a few days back that someone wanted to shoot a rural wedding. That person came as a commoner and was treated as any other guest. Only later we were told that he is Aamir Khan,” said Jasvir Singh, a farmer and landlord.
The actor not only sang and danced with men and women at the wedding but also ate dinner with them. He even gifted a ring to the bride after the ‘Mehendi’ ceremony.
He left only past midnight – perhaps headed for another undisclosed location in disguise.
But before doing that, he did not forget to invite the new couple to come to Mumbai for the premiere of his latest film later this week – this being his wedding gift for the honeymooners.

Celina Jaitley will be seen in an all new avatar in Mahesh Nair’s Accident on Hill Road.
Celina Jaitley, plays the lead character of Sonam Chopra in Magna Films’ upcoming flick ‘Accident on Hill Road’. Inspired by daily accidents that occur on Mumbai roads Mr. Nair has not only narrated a true incident but also has challenged himself by casting Celina Jaitley in a never seen before image. The director says, “I like to experiment so I casted Celina for this intense role. It will be a pleasant surprise to see her in a not so glamorous role spotting a short hair cut.” The director continues saying, “Accident on Hill Road is a cunning and energetic thriller that takes its premise from the real-life incident of a woman who hit a man, then drove home and parked the car in the garage with the man wedged halfway through her windshield. Celina Jaitley stars as Sonam Chopra, a hard-partying, overworked nursing assistant.”Labels: News 0 comments

There is saying that 98% of fights happen due to girls but in the following case, two women are bringing two guys together. The strong friendship between SRK’s wife Gauri and Hrithik’s wife Susanne has resulted in the two stars collaborating on a movie.
A source tells us, ‘SRK and Hrithik are perceived as rivals but in actuality, they are friends. Gauri and Susanne are very good friends. They have the same social circle comprising Twinkle Khanna, Malaika Arora Khan, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Farah Khan and Anu Dewan. However, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are not friends with SRK while Hrithik thinks of SRK as his elder brother.’Labels: Hrithik Roshan, News, Shahrukh khan 0 comments

Katrina Kaif may say see wants to be taken as a serious actress but she doesn’t want to shed her glamourous image. She is keen on doing an item song in Rajneeti.
Katrina is playing a sari-clad, dignified neta ala Sonia Gandhi in the film. Her character doing an item song seems pretty far-fetched and bizarre. Such things used to happen in the 90s.Labels: katrina kaif, News 0 comments

Writer Jaideep Sahni is all praise for Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the just released “Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year” and says the actor’s portrayal of the protagonist is better than what was etched out in the script.
“We had certain expectation in terms of performance. When he started acting, it turned out to be better than our character in the script. It was a bonus,” Sahni told IANS. The writer says he always had Ranbir in mind for the role.
“When I finished writing, we needed someone of a certain age group and keeping the character in mind we had certain expectations and Ranbir was the closest of what we conceived of the character,” said Sahni.
The film is directed by Shimit Amin, who had wielded the megaphone for “Chak De! India” that had Shah Rukh Khan in the main lead.
In this film, Ranbir plays Harpreet Singh Bedi who has just graduated with embarrassing marks. But the poor score doesn’t stop him from dreaming about an exciting career. “Rocket Singh…” shows how most people lead a dual life, said Sahni.
“It’s neither a romantic nor an action film; it’s a story about a simple salesman based in Mumbai. We wanted to show how a boy tackles his first job and new responsibilities, just after his college. The profession we chose was sales.
“This film is set in a work place. When we go to office, we speak in a common language and there is a certain way we behave. But when we go back home, we behave differently. In short, we all lead a dual life,” he said.
Asked why the main protagonist is a Sikh, he said: “It’s nothing to with ethnicity. We were thinking of a story and that’s how a boy came to mind. Why should we follow a syllabus that says all the protagonists should be ‘gora, chitta’ north Indian Hindu male?” The screenwriter of hits like “Chak De! India” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla” believes that there is always pressure on a writer irrespective of how your last film performed.
“The pressure is always there. If your last film hasn’t done well, then you take lots of pressure to come back with a good one. If it has done well, then you have to do much better than that,” said Sahni. In the two-hour-20-minute film there are only three songs, which are written by Sahni. Released Friday, the film has been made under the Yash Raj Films’ banner.

I had no plans of doing an English version of Tera Kya Hoga Johnny. But everyone who saw it in New York suggested I do it. Every frame in my film has been shot in the lanes and gullies of South Mumbai in Colaba."
With Tutu Sharma now taking over as co-producer of Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, the film is all set for an early January 2010 release. Thus ends the blame game whereby Neil Nitin Mukesh was being accused of trying to stall the film by not dubbing for it. Defends Sudhir Mishra, "First of all most of the film is in sync sound. There was just about a day's dubbing to be done by Neil. He finished it long ago. Why blame the poor guy?"

Where actresses want to share screen space with Bollywood multi-talented actor Hrithik Roshan, here's one who has rejected the amazing offer to work with Junior Roshan.
Well the hottie in question is Hindi film industry's favorite dame Katrina Kaif, who was approached for Hrithik starrer 'KRRISH 2'.
Katrina rejected the offer as she had already been signed by Karan Johar for 'Dostana' sequel.
It was not possible for Katz to add up Hrithik starrer in her list. As a result, film producer Rakesh Roshan.
Who was desperate to pair up Hrithik-Katz in Krrish 2, has roped in dimpled beauty Deepika Padukone instead.
According to the sources, "Rakesh Roshan came up with the idea of pairing Hrithik opposite Kat. They both would look really good together and it's a fresh pairing. But she wasn't too sure if she could commit and declined the offer politely."
Rakesh Roshan, who formerly decided to rope in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to direct Krrish sequel, has changed his mind. It looks the director is very eager to go behind the camera himself for the film. It looks that Rakesh didn't want to take chances after 'Delhi 6' debacle.

The girl is living her life on her own terms. For some bollywood stars, it can be a fashion to turn up in the blink-and-miss roles in Hollywood flicks, but actress for Neha Dhupia does not think alike.
She revealed that she could not move out of India as this country is he own and it makes her feel very comfortable.
She can not leave Bollywood for Hollywood, for the simple fact that she feels Hollywood is lonely. She even said that she would not leave the country for Hollywood, unless Hollywood comes to her.
That does not mean that she has no Hollywood project in her kitty. She just has finished shooting for Hollywood actress-singer Jessica Simpson TV show ‘Price Of Beauty’, where she had been chosen as the Indian beauty ambassador.
In another American TV series, ‘Bollywood Hero’, starring Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore, she plays a nagging Bollywood star.
These two projects are thereby, getting her more and more Hollywood projects. But for a home sick girl, that she is, Bollywood is enough reported by hindustantimes
The 29-year-old beauty won the Miss India pageant in 2002 and appeared on screen with Ajay Devgan in the 2003 in ‘Qayamat’. Since then, she has been struggling to make a strong foothold in the industry. After juggling between hardcore commercial films and third grade masala films, she finally discovered her mettle in the new-age practical offbeat films.

If Amitabh Bachchan has shown the way, could bahurani Aishwarya Rai Bachchan be far behind? Big B pulled off the role of a 13-year-old kid suffering from progeria for his Balki directed film with a unbelievable transformation through prosthetic make-up and now Ash in her forthcoming Vipul Shah movie Action Replay is going through an equally elaborate makeover to look like an old lady for some scenes.

Apparently even Ash is being given her look by well-known Hollywood make-up artists and the process takes between 4-5 hours. While Amitabh's Auro was perfected by Christien Tinsley (The Passion of the Christ) and Dominie Till (The Lord Of The Rings trilogy), Ash is getting help from Paul Pattison who has earlier styled Mel Gibson for Braveheart and Tom Cruise for Mission Impossible.
An insider discloses, "The film is most probably about time travel and Ash will be seen playing an old lady in a portion of the movie. She had to patiently give over four hours to get the desired look which took many prior sittings just to be finalised. It was an everyday ordeal to first put on and then remove the make-up. Bachchan too went through a similar experience. But Ash was on time regularly for these sessions."
Confirms Vipul Shah, "Ash is playing an old lady in a portion of the film and she did have to spend around 4-6 hours everyday for the make-up, but she was extremely cooperative. It's a look people have never seen her in before -- it's our USP and a big secret."

She doesn’t let go of whatever she loves. Well, that’s the new personality trait of the gorgeous Katrina Kaif coming to the fore.
The lady is possessive about everything she likes from her footwear to her fancy car.
She doesn’t trash away the things she loves, even the trinkets and knick knack.
Turns out that Katrina has been advised to change her car, an Audi, because it was damaged by a mob of her fans.
At a promotional event recently. But since the automobile is Katrina’s favourite, she’s in no mood to sell it.
It’s believed that the said Audi is one of the first expensive cars that Kat bought with her hard-earned money.
That’s why she’s so fond of it and doesn’t want to part with it. Katrina’s attachment to her personal things was also evident when.

Neither is she hot on the web like Katrina Kaif nor as beautiful as Ex Miss World Aishwarya Rai, then too, Slumdog Millionaire girl Freida Pinto is one such actress for whom Bollywood craves.
The gorgeous Pinto babe is on the wish-list of many producers and directors but she has gone to such unattainable heights in the blink of an eye that her priority now is undoubtedly Hollywood, not Bollywood.
According to sources, some of the Indian producers who got a chance to see the gal’s new L’Oreal commercials on a networking site were so keen to sign.
The desi-gone-videsi girl that they even sent “feelers” to her business agents, asking if she is interested in doing films in Bollywood. Alas, they have to wait, as Freida’s date diary is full with international films, festivals and events. Let’s see whether the babe can come down from ‘H’ to ‘B’.
