Everyone gathered to make a fun movie, but no one had a plan to do it or any interest in figuring out how. That, unfortunately, is what a viewing of Anurag Basu's 'Kites' feels like. It feels like the kind of movie that might have been designed by a marketing software program for MBA studio executives. And it seems more like a product than an attempt to tell a story.
There's no way around it - 'Kites' is repetitive, flat and completely forgettable. Its fitfully unfunny, never exciting or engaging, modestly entertaining, excessively dimwitted, and finally just too darn long - in a nutshell, its relentlessly average. The film leaves a bad taste, not only because of its bad-luck timing, but also the staleness of its achingly inept script.

Katrina Kaif is said to be becoming a security hazard to herself, and her latest disregard for all rules of self-preservation takes the cake.
Yesterday (May 17) when Katrina was required to fly to Bangalore for an event with her 'Raajneeti' co-star Ranbir Kapoor, she just hopped into a taxi with her hand-luggage and took off. Much to the shock of the cabbie who had no clue about the 'star' passenger he was carrying until he looked into his rear view mirror.
"But what's the big deal about hopping into a cab to rush to the airport? Thousands of girls do it all the time. What's there to get hyper? My driver was late because he got caught in a traffic snarl," Katrina, 25, told IANS.
"If I had waited any more, I would've missed my flight. So I waved for a cab hopped in and zipped off."
Bollywood Super Stars Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan will come together for a charity match during IIFA this years.
The actors, who have not been on speaking terms for last two years, will unite to face Sri Lankan cricketers during the match, which will help raise funds for the rehabilitation of former child soldiers.
Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan became bitter enemies after their fight during the birthday party of actress Katrina Kaif in 2008.
If this is a Gossip, wait! - It cant be. It makes sense. They both have been in love since a long time and are sure to marry each other but do not want to reveal this secret relation just yet.

Barbara Mori’s 12-year-old son Sergio will soon hit the big screen in a Mexican film, with his mommy.
The movie is being produced by Barbara’s production house.
On a promotional tour for 'Kites' in the US, he watched his debut 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'
It was an emotional moment for actor Hrithik Roshan, as he witnessed a screening of his debut movie ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’ in New York and talked about his decade-long Bollywood journey leading to super stardom.
The 36-year-old, who is on a promotional tour for his upcoming international love story ‘Kites’ in the US, was in New York to present a specialscreening of his launch vehicle at the BIG Cinemas Manhattan in Midtown East to an audience of competition winners.
Hrithik shared with the audiences anecdotes from his early days as an actor and his overnight rise to stardom after ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’ in 2000. He also introduced ‘Kites’ where he has teamed up with Mexican actress Barbara Mori.
He'll be in New York for his buddy Hrithik's international premiere Karan Johar has extended his holiday in New York to attend the premiere of Hrithik Roshan-starrer 'Kites' at Times Square today (May 16).
"It's a big film for the Roshans who are very close to me and Shah Rukh (Khan). The success of 'Kites' is also very important to the film industry. I've a release 'I Hate Luv Storys' coming up in July. And if 'Kites' works, it'd mean favourable things for my films," Karan told IANS over the phone from New York.
The Hindi version of Hrithik and Mexican actress Barbara Mori-starrer 'Kites' will have its worldwide release May 21, while the crisp and short English version, edited by Brett Ratner, will hit the screens May 28. The film is produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu. Reliance Big Pictures is distributing the movie.

Celebrations are continuing for Sajid Nadiadwala. While his Housefull is holding on well at the box office after a terrific opening, he is also readying up plans for his first ever musical Anjaana Anjaani. The film is now all set for 24th September release.
"That's right, 24th September is the confirmed release date for Anjaana Anjaani. This is the first ever 100% romantic musical film from my banner. I can proudly say that this is the best ever music made for a film of mine", says Nadiadwala.
The problems for Raajneeti seem to be getting more pronounced. Earlier this week, there was a Mumbai-based social worker Naseem Khan who filed a petition in court against Raajneeti asking for its release to be stopped because one of the central characters apparently resembles Sonia Gandhi.
Now one hears that actor and self-styled star Kamal R Khan (or KRK as he likes to be called) has sent Prakash Jha a legal notice claiming rights over the title Raajneeti.
Our dreams keep us going and fulfilling them can result in some great achievements. Bollywood is no exception to the rule, with stars going out of their way to achieve their dreams. At times this could be a little closer to home than expected.
The same is the case with actor Boman Irani. Finally, being able to realize his long dwelt upon dream of learning to play the guitar, the actor has started his learning session just recently. Tweeting about this Boman says, "Off for my first Guitar lesson. One of my unfulfilled desires. Hope I take to it. Have many others. 1 at a time..."
Later tweeting about his first session of jamming, Boman, the eternal entertainer quips, "Back from my 1st guitar lesson. My teacher says my fingers aren't good enough to pick my own nose!! Both my hands strum at the same time."
After having done a variety of roles, the guitar lessons might just prepare Boman for a musical film. What say Mr. Irani!
Every Bollywood Producer wants a cast and director that will deliver a blockbuster. Bollywood Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has managed to get two very Talented Star Together. Sajid has signed Imtiaz Ali and Hrithik Roshan for his Next Film.
Some Source says, “Sajid Nadiadwala is the biggest producer in Bollywood today. After Housefull, he will be making the Hindi remake of South superhit Kick starring Salman Khan. His mega venture with Hrithik and Imtiaz follows Kick.
Incidentally, Sajid had signed Imtiaz immediately after Jab We Met and they have been planning the film for four years. Now, Hrithik Roshan has given the go ahead and the film will be the most expensive Bollywood production. The budget will be over Rs 100 crore as it’s a genre that has never been attempted before. It is a drama-based film and has its emotional moments. It will start as soon as Imtiaz is done with his film Rockstar with Ranbir and in all likelihood, the film will go on the floors in January-February next year.”
Even the parties involved are very optimistic about the outcome. The source added, “Imtiaz wanted to work with Hrithik immediately after Jab We Met. However, he went on to make Love Aaj Kal and now finally he is making the film with him.”
When contact, Hrithik Roshan confirmed the news. On the other hand, Sajid Nadiadwala said, “It is true that I am making the film with Imtiaz Ali but I can’t comment on the casting as of now.”
Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan's last Two solo Films have flopped and he has not been seen on screen for a while. But, Now Abhishek Bachchan is doing director Mani Ratnam's "Raavan" and the combination has never failed till yet.

Salman Khan, these days, is in the news for all good things. It is said that our Sallu mia will perform at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2010, being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sallu and his ‘Being Human’ Foundation will also support a cause.
Bollywood love birds, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor may be madly in love with each other in real life but they are going to fight in their forthcoming film ‘Agent Vinod’.
Saif’s debut home production Agent Vinod is all set to take off on May 24 in Mumbai though its actual shooting would take place in Morocco. The film will have a combat scene where the lead pair Saif and Kareena fights.
It comes to hear that Kareena has already started training for the particular sequence.
It came as a surprise recently, when Bollywood’s chocolate boy Ranbir Kapoor patched up with ex-sweetheart Deepika Padukone. We also heard about them doing Anurag Basu’s next together.
Buzz was that, Katrina Kaif, who was being touted as Ranbir’s love interest sometime ago was in Anurag Basu’s ‘Silence’ but she was reportedly replaced by Deepika due to unknown reasons.
Now the latest we hear is, Deepika too is not doing the film.
Grapevine is that, Asin who has been roped in to play the role.
Ranbir reportedly plays a deaf and dumb person, hence the title ‘Silence’.
